Five employees of the BK Group of Companies are in police custody for the theft of Mack Trucks spare parts, valued approximately $40 million, from the company.
According to a company statement, the five men are expected to be charged.
It noted that the stolen items include a computer box, fuel pumps, hubs, brake liners, fuel injectors, axles, batteries, lights, wheel seals, steering ends, differential seals, clutch plates, pressure plates, a dump pump, a brake booster, wheel bearings, a ratchet and stabiliser bars.
The company said it recognised that many of its trucks’ spare parts and other equipment were being stolen over the past year but was only able to nab the perpetrators last week.
Collectively, it noted, the five employees have worked with the BK Group for more than 20 years.
