A swift recovery to Mr Chandarpal

Dear Editor,

I am very sorry to learn of the reported health condition of Mr Navin Chandarpal. I met Mr Chandarpal in New York on one of my visits and he did indicate to me the nature of his illness, and I hoped from then for his full recovery. While I am not entrenched in the political arena in Guyana, I have had the honour of meeting Mr Chandarpal from his young days, and of him I can say, unlike so many others, that he governs himself with a humble disposition. He calls me fondly “KNP,” the initials I used in my writing years ago as I cried out for justice for us.

This familiar address surprises me in a country where status determines quality of treatment for persons in many areas. While many have shown disregard for the poor, Mr Chandarpal, in my opinion, has never left his principles of service to all.

I am certain Mr Chandarpal is dear to many in the political and non-political arena and therefore our hearts and prayers are with him and his family at this time.

I wish him a swift recovery and a return to his position of service.

Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
