Demerara will face Essequibo in the opening match of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Women’s Inter-County Competition today at the Everest Cricket Club Ground at Carifesta Avenue.
The Demerara side will be captained by West Indies player June Ogle while the inexperienced Essequibo team will be led by Davena Gooberdan.
Following today’s first round match, Berbice will tackle Essequibo tomorrow while on Saturday Berbice and Demerara will do battle.
The following are the three squads. The Demerara Team: June Ogle (captain), Akaze Thompson (vice-captain), Heema Singh, Hasena Mohamed, Joane Vansertima, Kavita Yadram, Nalini Sumintra, Odessa Oniel, Leana Harris, Latoya Smith, Mantana Cambridge, Latecia Edwards, Janette Daniels and Shirley Boyce. The coach is Latchman Yadram and Taitwantie Dollara the manager.
The Essequibo team: Davena Gooberdan (captain), Odessa Caeser (vice-captain), Natasha Elecock, Tiffany Bagot, Domali Wright, Kavita McIntyre, Sabrina Stuart, Latoya Cameron, Janelle Brown, Zohif Allen, Latoya Elexy, Nyokabie Thorman, Mayon Boson and Kumarie Persaud. Vibert Johnson is the coach of the side while the manager is Verna Daguiar.
The Berbice team: Shamaine Campbelle (captain), Tremayne Smartt (vice-captain), Sherica Campbell, Erva Giddings, Subrina Munroe, Teniesah Cort, Treshanie Cort, Steffi Rodney, Natasha Gangoo, Katana Mentore, Melanie Henry, Phaffiana Millington, Jennifer Kewley and Devonna Frank. The coach is Andre Percival with the Manager being Abina Schultz.
