(Jamaica Gleaner) Three children died in an early morning fire which destroyed their home in Negril, Westmoreland yesterday.
They had been left alone.
The bodies of sisters, 14-year-old Brittany Boning and 11-year-old Beyonce Leslie, and their eight-year-old cousin, Xavier McKenzie, were found in a bathtub in a section of the two-apartment board and concrete dwelling.
Senior deputy superintendent of the Westmoreland Fire Division, Morine Thompson, said the children apparently died from smoke inhalation because their bodies were not burned.
“The information we received is that, shortly before the fire, the two adults who were at the house rode out on a bike, one to work, and one to the gym,” Thompson added.
Thompson also said while the cause of the fire is not yet known, investigators are hoping to question the mother of the children.
