Dear Editor,
On July 15 you carried a letter in SN captioned ‘Lateness has become a way of life’ by Rev Gideon Cecil. It reflected what we so continuously refer to as a Carribbean thing, but there are rare exceptions, and I wish to identify two persons who can be exempted. One is my ex-boss C R Quintin as well as Christopher Ram, with whom I became acquainted at the Bookers Stores in a professional capacity. Chris was so punctual that we dared each other to be late at our meetings at the Georgetown Club to which the former acting Governor of the Bank of Guyana Ms D Singh could bear witness. Chris returns all of your telephone calls even if he is overseas, which he did on returning recently after his sister died.
Punctuality is a discipline, but regrettably it is not demonstrated by those in authority.
Yours faithfully,
V O Patrick
