Two-time defending national champions Christianburg/Wismar Secondary punched their ticket to the semi-final stage, crushing Region six champs Vryman Erven Secondary 8-0 when the national quarterfinal round of Digicel Secondary Schools u-18 football tourney concluded yesterday.
Shane Luckie opened the scoring for the winners at the Wisburg Secondary ground with a second minute conversion. He would then double their lead, netting his double compliments of 22nd minute strike.
It would then become 3-0 two minutes later as Donavan Francis netted. The Region 10 champions would continue to extend their advantage as Luckie completed his hat trick with a 45th minute effort.
Luckie would then seal his helmet trick as he scored once more in the 53rd minute. Francis would then shoulder the scoring burden for the Linden unit, netting his brace on either side of half time one minute later.
Amoniki Buntin then got into the scoring feast as he netted through a 60th minute conversion. He would then complete the win for the Linden side, sealing his second half double through a 78th minute strike.
The Linden side will now faceoff with Region five title holders Bush Lot Secondary who squeaked past Region nine winners Annai Secondary by a 3-2 score line at the Burnham Park ground in New Amsterdam.
Marlon Nicholson opened the scoring for Berbicians as he found the back of the net through a 12th minute strike. Bush Lot Secondary would then increase their lead as Nicholson netted his double nine minutes later.
The Berbice unit would continue to increase their score line as Adrian Price scored through a 66th minute conversion. Annai Secondary would eventually pull one back in the 80th minute as Shivraj Lall netted in the 80th minute.
They would then cut the deficit to one in the dying seconds as David Daniel etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 90th +2 minute.
