The two persons previously acting in the posts of Director of Prisons and Deputy Director of Prisons at the Guyana Prison Service have been given substantive appointments by President Donald Ramotar.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon yesterday announced that Welton Trotz was appointed as Director of Prisons and Carl Graham as Deputy Director this week by the President.
Luncheon also informed that former Justice of Appeal Claudette Singh was also appointed by the president as Legal Advisor to the Guyana Police Force. Luncheon was quizzed about the appointments of Trotz and Graham in light of the fact that they are both retired public servants. He explained that while he was not in a position to comment on their retirement status, if they were appointed it would be catered for in a stipulated contract. Meanwhile, Luncheon pointed out that Singh’s appointment was a welcomed addition and he noted that she would serve as a boost to the police force. He said she brings “Access to quality legal advice right at their door steps 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
