Pepsi Hikers continued in their unbeaten campaign, defeating (+6) St. Stanislaus 11-8 in their division-A matchup when the Noble House Goals Galore Indoor Hockey tourney continued on Thursday at the National Gymnasium.
Aroydy Branford opened the scoring for the winners in the seventh minute with a powerful strike into the left hand corner of the goal. Reggie Harper would then cut the deficit to four goals as he netted in the 11th minute with a first time strike into the roof of the net.
St. Stanislaus would then put his team further ahead two minutes later as Hilton Chester restored their five goal advantage with a sliding finish into the bottom right hand corner.
However, the deficit would be reduced to four goals once more as Branford scored in the 20th minute with a strike into the lower right hand corner of the net.
Former national hockey player George Melville would then get into the goal scoring act for Hikers as he netted five minutes later, lashing his effort into the lower right hand corner of the goal, from within the right side of the area.
The deficit would then be reduced to two goals as Jamarj Assanah netted one minute later, striking his effort down the middle of the goal. Assanah would pull Hikers within one of the Saints score, completing his double with a finish to the right hand corner in the 28th minute.
The scores would become level one minute later as Assanah sealed his hat trick one minute later, striking his effort to the left hand side of the net. Hikers would take the lead for the first time in the 32nd minute as Branford netted his third, finishing to the left hand corner.
He would then net his fourth of the evening two minutes later as Hikers began to extend their lead. Colonel Heywood would then etch his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 35th minute with a first time shot to the left side of the net, after collecting a pass within the penalty area.
The win would then be capped off in the 37th minute as Harper completed his double. Netting a consolation goal for the losers in the 40th minute was Yonnick Peters.
Continuing in the same section, (+3) Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) defeated (+8) Old Fort Gladiators by a 12-8 margin. Trevon Smith, Kevin Spencer and Devin Hooper led the way with doubles.
Smith netted in the fourth and 26th minutes while Spencer scored in the eighth and 11th minutes and Hooper netted in the 29th and 39th minutes.
Sealing the win were Damon Woodroffe, Mark Sargeant and Stephen Xavier who netted in the 15th, 18th and 27th minutes respectively.
The final matchup of the division saw (+10) Kingston defeating (+5) Old Fort Vikings 13-0 via walkover. In the B-division, (+1) GCC Spartans drew with (+7) Under-19 Mix 7-7. Aliyah Gordon led the Spartans with hat trick in the 15th, 17th and 29th minutes.
She was assisted by Dacia Woodroffe, Alysa Xavier and Marzana Fiedtkou who netted in the fifth, seventh and 23rd minutes correspondingly. In the final matchup of the section, (+6) Saints defeated GCC Tigers by an 8-7 score line.
Shemar Boston and Myron Phillips netted for the winners in the 17th and 19th minutes respectively. Leading the losers with a helmet trick in the second, ninth, 26th and 28th minutes was Ashley DeGroot.
Competing the score line with solo efforts for the losers were Tiffany Solomon and Ulrica Sutherland in the 22nd and 28th minutes respectively.
