Guyana Football Federation (GFF) President Christopher Matthias said yesterday that associations which attended the GFF’s meeting on July 30 did not discuss the voting eligibility of affiliates considered Interim Management Committees (IMC).
“Nothing was discussed with regards to voting and the eligibility of the IMC’s. It’s a non-issue, the GFF constitution has addressed the issue and FIFA has settled it,” said Matthias from the GFF’s office in Campbellville following the meeting.
Questioned if any other objections were made at forum with regards to the reconvening of the Congress and/or its agenda on August 9th, Matthias said there were none.
“No objections were made by the gathering towards the reconvening of the congress.
“It was a very fruitful and excellent meeting. It showed a great level of maturity of all the parties. The federation advanced the following position which is the money scheduled to arrive for Guyana’s football development and we invited all members of congress to ask how the money should be spent for Guyana football development”.
Asked who were the associations and affiliates that attended the forum, the GFF boss said “Berbice Football Association (BFA), West Demerara Football Association (WDFA), Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), Georgetown Football Association (GFA), East Bank Football Association (EBFA), Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC), Guyana Football Coaches Association (GFCA) and Guyana National Women Football Association (GNWFA).
“The Bartica Football Association, Essequibo/Pomeroon Football Association (EBFA) and East Coast Football Association (ECFA) couldn’t make the meeting but we will send the minutes to them.
“We are looking forward to working in unity, intellectually and honestly. GFA General Secretary Odinga Lumumba said at the meeting that we should stop the politics and respect each other so that football can move forward.
“From all indications football is set to continue its development with all hands on board. It was EBFA General Secretary Franklin Wilson who also at the meeting, urged us to be honest and we at the GFF have long been advancing that position, first with ourselves and then with each other,” Matthias added.
