Miss Jamaica – Joanna Sadler
At 23 years old, Joanna Sadler holds an admirable position as a Real Estate Agent while still pursuing studies and boasts her most proud moment as graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural studies with Honours. Sadler said she would like to see Jamaica draw more from the culture of its people rather than focus primarily on promoting the beauty of its environment, opining that Jamaicans have a unique way of life which is very vibrant and worthy of being translated into a product for tourists.
Miss St. Vincent & the Grenadines – Aphesha Matthews
Twenty-two year old Aphesha is currently a full time student pursuing an accounting career and has a passion for pageantry. She said she was drawn to the Miss Jamzone pageant because it is tourism based and being a Vincentian, she know the talent which exists in these parts but having no platform to be showcased. It is in this regard, she said, she would like to see development within the tourism sector of her country. “I would like tourism to develop an avenue to accommodate those individuals. In return, tourist can see that we have more to offer than just our festival celebrations,” she pointed out.
Miss St. Lucia – Amy Stephen
At 20 years old Amy Stephen is a full time teacher pursuing a degree in theatre and marketing as she dreams of working in these fields either regionally or internationally. With a passion for singing and theatre this young lady says she enjoys her leisure time improving her singing, violinist and flutist skills. Asked what she would like to see happen in the area of tourism in her country, Stephen said “I would like to see the industry become more holistic in terms of the partners involved…”. She continued to say that her fellow St. Lucians make her most proud and would promote the country’s human resources as “mountains and tress can’t make you feel as welcomed as a gesture from someone you’ve never met.”
Miss Barbados – Dannyele Leslie
This vibrant twenty-five year old has an impressive line of special awards she has received for accomplishments. She managed to reach including most outstanding debater (Gavel Club President) 2002, 2003, 2004; Outstanding Academic Achievement 2004, winner of the Barbados National and Regional Optimist Oratorical Competitions 2004, highest exam mark in the island-state in the Royal Schools of Music Theory Exam 2001, Principal’s Award of Excellence 2005 and the list goes on. She can also be considered a ‘pageant girl’ having competed in several including Miss Carnival which she won in 2013, Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2009, Miss Barbados World in which she placed first runner up, etc. This young lady says she dreams of being successful in life, making her parents, community country and herself proud and ultimately build a legacy for those who follow. “A legacy which impresses and you must seize each and every opportunity, whether it comes with its value stamped on it, or whether it comes in disguise, so that they too may be successful”.
Miss Bahamas – Lexi Wilson
Twenty-three year old Lexi Wilson is the iconic woman. She graduated with her Bachelors in Biology and received special awards in Geography, Combined Science, Biology, Religious Knowledge and also track and field awards. She has made the Dean’s Honour roll
numerous times and is currently pursuing a career in dentistry. While she enjoys her rise on the academic ladder, Lexi found a new love in pageantry when she got her first taste in the 2013 Miss Bahamas Pageant which she managed to walk away with not only the award for best body but the crown as well! Lexi says she is excited about visiting Guyana for the very first time.
Miss St. Kitts & Nevis – Yarayni Morton
A lover of dance, poetry and books; Yarayni Morton finds serenity in spending her spare time indulging in her favourite hobbies. This 23-year-old is new to pageantry having recently completed her first, the National Carnival Pageant in St. Kitts in which she was named first runner up. She said while she anxiously anticipates meeting new people and making fresh memories during her journey in the Miss Jamzone International Pageant, she is even more excited about fulfilling her lifelong dream of excelling in pageantry.
Miss United States of America – Kadian Collins
Miss USA loves reading, modelling, snorkelling and going to the beach. Twenty-three year old Kadian Collins loves adventure and spends as much time as possible doing just that, creating life long memories in amazing places. This young lady has travelled Iceland, Germany, Spain, France, England and the Caribbean making stops in Jamaica where her family is originally from. Having experienced this culture first hand, there is no wonder why Kadian enjoys the water so much and even less surprising that she would love Reggae and Dancehall music with a special admiration for legend Bob Marley. She also enjoys music of Pop, Rock, Indie and Classical genres.
Miss Trinidad and Tobago – Kareesia Henry
At just 23 years old Kareesia Henry has already participated in nine pageants, five of which she emerged winner, three of which she was a runner up and her most recognized, Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe 2011 where she was a semi-finalist. This young lady is currently employed as the Protocol Officer to the Minister of Tobago Development but says she has a passion for flying planes. It is with this in mind that she said she sees herself as a First Officer Pilot with British Airways doing short haul fleets throughout Europe and traveling a great deal in about five years.
Miss Antigua and Barbuda – Raynel Carroll
Raynel Carroll, twenty, is currently employed as an Office Administrator at the Tourism Authority but finds pleasure in exploring pageantry having participated in the Black History Month Pageant, Teen Splash 2010, Homecoming Queen 2011 and the Labour Queen 2013 and the Miss Antigua Queen of Carnival 2013-2014 which she won. Raynel enjoys dance and considers this as her performable talent. She sees herself obtaining her
Masters in Tourism Management in another five years with her life ambition as gaining a position within the Ministry of Tourism that will offer policy direction in Antigua and Barbuda’s Tourism Industry.
Miss Guyana – Soyini Fraser
Our home girl, Soyini is one that is enthusiastic, daring, determined, ingenious and radiant. Over the years she has evolved from just a simple and promising Guyanese girl into Beauty Queen, model, an aspiring Christian Child-Psychologist, a dancer, TV Hostess, role model and a true Guyanese. Coming from a family who is strict on academics, Soyini was dedicated to her studies but still throughout her school life she has been a member of every school’s athletic body; an active athlete, in both track and field events where she gained several titles for herself and Pilgrim House to which she belonged and a member of the school’s Steel Pan Orchestra from First to Sixth Form at Queen’s College, playing her beloved base pans.
