There will be disruptions in the power supplied to some Georgetown areas today due to Guyana Power and Light Incorporated’s (GPL) planned maintenance activities.
According to a GPL press release, while alternative supplies would be put in place for some areas, customers will be without electricity supply between 8am and 5pm in Kingston, Lacytown, Waterloo Street, and Middle Street between Waterloo and Camp streets and Cummingsburg. This is to allow for maintenance to the six 13.8 Feeders directly supplied by the Kingston plant. During this time, GPL will also “replace defective poles, crossarms, and insulators” and “upgrade and service switches and jumper connections.”
GPL said the maintenance activities are in keeping with GPL’s programme to improve the reliability of the feeders and reduce the likelihood of shutdowns at the Kingston plant due to faults.
The company also advised customers to check its website www.gplline.net or its Facebook page (GPL Inc.) for the weekly maintenance guide.
