A minibus conductor was on Thursday stabbed at ‘B’ Field, Sophia by a youth who had previously threatened him over the bus fare.
Shawn George, 34, of Lot 413, 13th Street, ‘A’ Field, Sophia was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after his young attacker stabbed him in his chest with a knife, when he opened the bus door to let a passenger out on Thursday. He was also knifed to his left shoulder.
His sister, Melissa George, said on Wednesday her brother was driving the minibus when the young man caught the bus but refused to pay when he reached his destination. She said the next morning the youth came to their house and threatened to break the bus windscreen and stab him. She said her brother went to a police station and reported the threat. George added that later that morning her brother decided to conduct the minibus for a few hours. She said he told her he felt a piercing pain in his shoulder when he opened the door to let a passenger out along the ‘B’ Field road. When he turned around, he was stabbed again in the chest. She said the young man was waiting on the bus with two other men who were carrying a cutlass and an ice-pick.
George has been discharged from the hospital.
