Kevin Martin, in his late 30s, was knocked down last evening at Farm, East Bank Essequibo and killed. He was pitched into a trench. His body was found some time after.
The car hit Martin, a labourer, around 8 pm and drove off. The driver made a report at the Parika Police Station.
Residents heard the loud impact but did not realize it was an accident. More than an hour later the driver’s wife called a resident and told him her husband had hit someone.
The driver went out to check and as he was walking down the road he saw a pair of boots belonging to Martin. He called out to other residents to assist him in searching for him.
They took about 15 minutes to locate the body in the trench and one of Martin’s brothers retrieved it.
