The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) has officially named its squad to participate in the upcoming Caribbean Senior Squash Championships scheduled to be held in Bridgetown, Barbados from August 16 – 23, 2014.
The women’s team which will be led by 2014 National Champion Mary Fung-a-Fat, will be without the services of defending Caribbean Champion and World No.19 ranked Nicolette Fernandes and Ashley Khalil.
Fernandes non-participation in the event is due to having to compete at a mandatory World Squash Association event in Hong Kong while Khalil is currently unavailable to participate in the tourney. The remaining members of the female squad are Ashley De Groot, sisters Akeila and Larissa Wiltshire, Victoria Arjoon and Tiffany Solomon.
On the male side, 2014 national champion Alex Arjoon will spearhead the unit which includes the likes of Sunil Seth, former Caribbean Champion Richard Chin, Jason Ray Khalil, Robert McDavid and Nicholas Narain.
The Veterans team will include 2013 Caribbean Over 50 Champion Brendon Mounter, Ramon Chan-A- Sue and Dennis Dias. The manager of the team is former Caribbean over 40 Champion Alwyn Callender.
Guyana are the defending the Men’s, Women’s and Overall Team champions which they won on local shores last year.
