Copa Airlines today said that the refusal of entry of a passenger who is the holder of a Netherlands passport was due to the fact that Guyanese immigration authorities deemed him to be a prohibited immigrant. A statement from COPA today said that the decision was based on the following factors:
The passenger did not:
1- Have sufficient funds
2- Have any known family or contacts in Guyana
3- Have an intended address
4- Show any sign of capability (He was unaccompanied and wheelchair assisted)
5- Meet immigration requirements
The passenger arrived in GEO at 13:57 hrs on CM254 PTYGEO. He was later refused entry by local immigration who insisted that the passenger return on the outgoing flight CM255/15Aug14. This was facilitated, COPA said.
