The Re-Actors – a comedy group comprising six dramatists: Randolph Critchlow, Sean Thompson, Mark Luke Edwards, Leon Cummings, Mark Kazim and Tashandra Inniss – will premier its first official comedy show “Bare Rikaticks” on Saturday August 23, at the National Cultural Centre.
Speaking to The Scene earlier in the week, Randolph described the show as sketch comedy on overdrive, a non-stop, high energy; laugh mania which will keep the audience engaged every second. “It will be comedy on steroids” he said, “The only time the audience will stop laughing is two weeks after the show.”
He further expressed that there will be no lapses between skits since the best local stand-up comedians will keep the laughs going.
There will also be a special tribute to the late great Habeeb Khan.
How does this show differ from the dozens of comedy shows and stand-up comedians performing out there? Randolph said the Re-Actors will be staying away from satire and focusing on real Guyanese situation through comedy; “As the group name suggests we are just reacting to social issues… through comedy of course.”
The comedy group expects a high turnout in the audience, noting: “Yes! Tickets are going faster than money from the Consolidated Fund.”
The show will feature local comics like Kirk “Chow Pow” Jardine, Lyndon “Jumbie” Jones, Kwasi “Ace” Edmondson, Chris Gopaul, Michael Ignatius and Nirmala Narine.
Tickets are available at the National Cutural Centre and on request from any member of the Re-actors through Facebook or alternative means. The show starts at 20:00hrs.
