Grove Hi-Tech maintained their unbeaten record edging Agricola Red Triangle 4-2 when the Cult Energy drink sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) U17 league continued at the Grove Community ground recently. The home side would take the early lead as they found the back of the net under fortuitous circumstances compliments of an own goal in the 10th minute. Undeterred, Agricola would level the score in a similar manner through a 21st minute Grove own goal.
Nicholas Matthews would then push Grove back into the lead eight minutes later through a header into the back of the net, after latching onto a corner kick. However, Agricola would equalise once more as Deshawn Matthews netted in the 37th minute through a penalty kick conversion.
The score line would then change once three minutes later as Trevor Jones netted through a penalty kick strike to push the home side back into the lead. Grove would then complete the hard-fought win in the 73rd minute through a Mervin Squired effort, from the penalty kick mark. In the opening matchup of the doubleheader, Herstelling FC blanked Kuru-Kururu Warriors by a 2-0 score line. With both sides unable to break the deadlock in the opening period, Seon Alfred would give Herstelling the lead as he netted the opener through a 73rd minute strike.
He would then seal the win two minutes later, completing his second half double compliments of a penalty kick attempt.
