Shenella Webster claimed her first victory in close to five months as she topped a strong field on Saturday in the medal-play tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club course.
The 2013 Guyana Open female champion ended with a gross of 91 and a net of 66 from a 25 handicap.
Webster had predicted she would win the competition.
“I will win next week,” she said at the end of the previous competition, on August 9 after not being among the top performers then.
Her prediction came through with her winning her first competition since March 29 this year when she won the Torginol Paints sponsored medal-play tournament with a net 64.
Webster was grateful for the mental advice from Dr. Philbert London, vice president of the LCG.
Juliet Prince, who also gave credit to Dr. London’s mental coaching and encouragement, said that a bogey at one particular hole forced her into second place as she too was determined to take the top honours. Prince recorded a gross of 103, which gave her a net 67 from her 36 handicap.
Third place went to Fazil Haniff, handicap 11, net 72; fourth place and Best Gross – Mohanlall ‘Santo’ Dinanauth, handicap 3, gross 75, net 72; and Nearest To the Pin – Patrick Prashad.
Dr. London, in congratulating the winners, expressed his encouragement that all players would maintain their enthusiasm and continue to compete and produce even better performances.
