A clerk was yesterday arraigned on a charge that he embezzled almost five million from his employer.
Rayon Nurse allegedly embezzled $4.7M belonging to Mohamed Khan on June 30, at Atlantic Gardens, East Coast Demerara, while being a clerk or servant of Marketing and Distribution Incorporated.
Nurse, 29, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of larceny by clerk or servant when it was read to him by city magistrate Fabayo Azore.
No further details were presented to the court about the charge.
Prosecutor Michael Grant informed the court that the accused has other pending matters before the courts stemming from this incident. He, however, had no objections to bail.
After hearing the case, the magistrate granted Nurse $250,000 bail and adjourned the case until October 7.
