A special tournament will be hosted by the Guyana Darts Association on Friday at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) on Thomas Lands Georgetown.
The tournament, which begins at 8pm, will be used as warm-up to the up-coming National Championships.
The games to be played will be a luck of the draw doubles played in a round robin format. The pairs will be divided into two groups and at the end of the round robin the first and second placed pairs from each group will play each other to determine the winner. The round robin segment will two games of the 501 format with one point for each game won. The knock-out stage will be best of three of 501 games, and the finals best of five.
A special innovation will be used so as to provide a level playing field for all participants. The country’s top players will be seeded in a draw system that eliminate unbalanced parings.
The tournament is being sponsored by Double M Taxi Service of Montrose, ECD, Sudesh Fitzgerald and the GDA. The tournament directors are Grantley Culbard and Rayman Williams.
Registration of participating players closes at 7:30p.m on the night of the event and there will be strict adherence to the registration and starting times.
Note: All players and members of the Guyana Darts Association are reminded that subscription dues for 2014 are still outstanding.
