Ten top players in the first leg of the GCB/Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Summer Camp received trophies for their efforts when the camp closed with a presentation ceremony held at Banks/DIH Thirst Park ground yesterday.

The four-day camp which started off with 66 players and attracted six more along the way, aimed to impart knowledge about the physical and technical aspects of the game.
In his closing remarks, Camp Coordinator, GCB Territorial Development Officer (TDO) Colin Stuart said he was impressed with the coaches’ work ethic, despite the inclement weather. The former West Indies player noted several budding talents that can be nurtured for future teams. “After the camp the players will be afforded age group cricket within their various schools and clubs, to enhance their abilities,” he said.
Apart from the coaches, teachers from the various participating schools were involved in all of the activities for the duration of the camp.
Activities now move to East Coast Demerara and Berbice from August 25 -29 and the Essequibo leg, which started on Monday, concludes today.
