Former soldier Rawle Glasgow was yesterday charged with attempted murder and arson after he allegedly set his Enterprise home on fire with his family inside.
Glasgow pleaded not guilty to the offences when they were read to him yesterday by Magistrate Zamena Ali at the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court. He was remanded to prison until September 12.
The charges stem from events on August 11, 2014, when Glasgow allegedly set his one-storey house afire with his wife and children in it after threatening to kill them. His step-daughter managed to escape and alert a neighbour, who called the police and the fire service.
Hours later, Glasgow was taken to the Georgetown Hospital by one of his sisters after ingesting poison. He was hospitalised for several days under police guard.
A neighbour had said that the man had returned home that night and an argument started, and he was heard threatening to kill everyone inside the house. A few minutes later, she said his step-daughter was knocking on her door, begging her to call the police.
