The commencement of the University of Guyana’s (UG) 2014/2015 academic year has been postponed until Monday, September 1 to facilitate late applications.
This is according to Public Relations Officer of UG, Paulette Paul who told Stabroek News that the decision was taken yesterday.
“Basically, it’s to let some of those students who applied late – who made use of the late application – to have their applications processed,” Paul explained. She went on, “It also allows for the conducting of our orientation exercises.”
On August 15, UG reopened its application process; this exercise concluded on Sunday.
Though some classes began yesterday on the semester’s official commencement, a release from the body said that teaching is suspended, beginning today. Its orientation activities are slated to end on Friday, August 29 and will continue as scheduled.
