The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) in partnership with W&H Rambaran Marine, bowled off its one week elite Youth Summer Camp yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club ground (DCC).
Day one of the camp commenced with the Under-15 boys engaging in an Introduction to Scoring session which was facilitated by regional scorer, Calvin Roberts. This was followed by warm-up sessions and batting drills done under the watchful eyes of coaches Garvin Nedd and Clive Grimmond who carried the youngsters through specific regimes.
The camp continues today with a presentation on the Relevant Laws of the Game facilitated by Matthew Kissoon, while warm-up sessions and bowling drills will be done by the coaches.
The clinic is also overseen by ex-West Indies pacer and current Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Territorial Development Officer, Colin Stuart
The aim of the camp is to challenge, improve and develop the younger cricketers’ ability, widen their knowledge of the game, and make them more appreciative of it. The DCB is encouraging more youths, both males and females to join the camp.
To be eligible for the U-15, players have to be born on or after 1st September 2000 and for the U-17, on or after 1st September 1998. Those interested can contact the DCB office on 223 5479 or Garvin Nedd on 617 9381.
