An autopsy performed on the remains of Mohamed Bacchus, the fisherman who was killed in a hit and run accident along the Carifesta Avenue last Saturday, has found that he died of multiple injuries.
Bacchus, 66, was found dead at the side of the busy road with broken legs and arms. He had left his Lot 48 Martyrsville, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara home early Saturday morning to fish at his usual spot along the avenue.
His body was later discovered by a horse-cart driver passing along the road.
Police are yet to identify a suspect in his death.
Bacchus’ family was unaware of his death until Monday when his son-in-law read a story about an unidentified man being found dead along Carifesta Avenue.
When Stabroek News contacted the relatives yesterday, they expressed frustration of not knowing who caused his death. They also lamented that they have heard nothing from the police about the case. “We need closure,” his son-in-law, Ramdeo Budhram, said.
Bacchus was the father of three daughters.
