Chargé d’ Affaires of the US Embassy Bryan Hunt spoke on Tuesday in Kuru Kuru with participants of  Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World), a US Peace Corps initiative, a release from the US Embassy said yesterday.

Approximately fifty girls ages 12 to 18 were on hand to hear Hunt speak about the U.S. Embassy’s role in promoting leadership and empowerment in young women. The release said that the Chargé explained some of the Embassy’s public diplomacy programmes for young people, including its Youth Action Network and the Youth Ambassador’s Program, a three-week leadership exchange in

the U.S. Hunt’s speech came near the end of a weeklong camp designed to inspire and empower young women to become

strong leaders. The release said that campers took part in workshops on leadership, self-esteem, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices.

Peace Corps Guyana volunteers serve as counsellors at the camp which held its first edition in Guyana in 2011. Camp GLOW took place at the Kuru Kuru Training College.
