I was wondering if it is at all possible for City Hail to quit bickering and do just one thing to endear themselves to the populace?
Could they please start planting trees in Georgetown once again? There is a competent staff at the Promenade Gardens and I would venture a guess that the Office of the President (OP) has its own gardening staff too.
Many of the majestic flamboyant and cannonball trees that the colonial authorities caused to be planted are crashing down to earth. Just drive down Carmichael Street and you will see that the remaining few will fall soon too. About a year ago one fell by the OP, nearly crushing a lady in her car. On Friday morning, August 22, another one fell by the Charlestown Post Office. I could go on.
Forty-eight years of Independence have brought us no peace of mind, no progress, no prosperity. The two major parties have brought this country to its knees. How I long for a national consensus and action; maybe City Hall can set an example. Maybe then we can get rid of foreign carpetbaggers.
I would venture a guess that volunteers would gladly take part in the tree-planting exercise.
