DERBY, England, CMC – Chesney Hughes’ recall to Derbyshire’s first team ended in disappointment yesterday when he was dismissed cheaply on the opening day of their County Championship match against Worcestershire.
The Leeward Islands left-hander made just 13 batting at number four as the hosts finished the day on 323 for eight, after winning the toss and opting for first knock. Hughes’ last first class match was nearly four months ago when he was dismissed for 0 and 12, ironically also against Worcestershire when Derbyshire lost by an innings.
On Sunday, his namesake Alex Hughes top-scored with 73 not out while captain Wayne Madsen got 56 and opener Billy Godleman, 55.
Twenty-two year-old pacer Charles Morris was the best bowler with four for 43.
