A 46-year-old gold miner was yesterday stabbed to death during an argument with a man at 4 Miles, Arakaka, North West District.
Dead is Glendon Cox of Aberdeen, Essequibo Coast. Police said a suspect has been arrested and is in custody assisting with the investigations.
When Stabroek News visited the home of the dead man at Aberdeen, his sister Esther Cox was in tears. She recalled that she received a telephone call from her nephew at around 3:30 am yesterday and he told her that Cox had been stabbed to death.
“When he call me, he asked if I heard what happen to Uncle Zama [Cox’s call name] and I told him no and that is when he told me that Glendon get stab,” she said.
The woman said that her brother had called her via radio set on Sunday to tell her that he was coming home today. “Just yesterday [Sunday] I was talking to him. Three times he call and he told me that he plan to come out tomorrow [today] but he said that he didn’t have any money so I sent the money for him to come out and look now he is gone,” the woman cried.
“My brother turned 46 on August 22 and he didn’t even come home. He had plans to do so many things. I even called the woman who he was working with and I get to talk to the shop owner where my brother get stab,” she added.
Glendon Cox was the father of two and his family is hoping that a thorough investigation into the matter will be conducted by the police.
