Vidyawattie Looknauth, Carvil Duncan, Patrick Yarde, Patricia Went and Mohammed Akeel were yesterday afternoon sworn in as members of the Public Sector Commission before President Donald Ramotar at the Office of the President.According to GINA, consultations between Ramotar and Opposition Leader David Granger saw the parties agreeing on the reconstitution of the service commissions on August 22.GINA quoted the president as saying that he hoped the other service commissions – the Judicial Service Commission, Teaching Service Commission (TSC) and Police Service Commission – would be sworn in before the end of the week. He acknowledged that the swearing-in of the commission was long overdue, but said the delay was as a result of unavoidable circumstances, according to GINA.President Ramotar congratulated the commissioners and urged them to work together for the betterment of the people they serve.Yarde said he felt the swearing in of the commission was a step in the right direction, and it was his hope that the members who took the oath did so with sincerity.
