CANTERBURY, England, CMC – Former West Indies vice-captain Brendan Nash passed 700 league runs for the season when he scored 40 for Kent, on the second day of their County Championship game against Glamorgan yesterday.
Kent, responding to the Welsh club’s first innings of 329, were 205 for four at the close at St Lawrence Ground, still 124 runs shy of the lead.
Nash helped to steady the Kent innings, adding 67 for the third wicket with opener Daniel Bell-Drummond who has top-scored with 71.
The left-handed Nash now has 733 runs for the season.
Bell-Drummond, who has Jamaican parents, put on 60 for the first wicket with Robert Key (41) before Key and Ben Harmison (10) fell in quick succession.
Nash, who played first class cricket for Jamaica, then batted just over 1-1/2 hours, faced 67 balls, and struck four fours to help rebuild the innings alongside Bell-Drummond.
The Australia-born Nash played the last of his 21 Tests three years ago.
