A Kitty man, accused of breaking into a storage bond and stealing $1M worth of items, was remanded to prison yesterday.
The charge against Clinton Kissoon, 49, is that between August 28 and August 29, at Georgetown, he broke and entered the bond of Alpha Import and Export and stole a Toshiba laptop, a Kindle and a quantity of perfumes and soap powder, valued $1M. The stolen items belonged to Denby Rickford.
Kissoon, of 85 William Street, Kitty, denied the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Prosecutor Michael Grant objected to Kissoon being granted bail. He noted that some of the stolen articles were recovered with Kissoon’s assistance.
Grant objected also because of the amount the items are valued and because Kissoon had previously been convicted on a similar charge.
He was subsequently remanded and the case was adjourned until September 10.
