Accused of stealing body spray that he lifted from a store, Shawn Stewart yesterday told a city court that he was planning to buy it.
“I was purchasing it,” Stewart, 28, said after pleading not guilty to the charge that on September 1, at Georgetown, he stole a body spray, valued $400, belonging to Fazia’s Collection.
Stewart is a mechanic and resides at West Front Road.
Prosecutor Michael Grant told Magistrate Judy Latchman that the spray was recovered in Stewart’s pocket outside of the store. Grant, however, had no objections to bail, which was set at $5,000. Stewart will make his next court appearance on September 10.
