Performer Delma Lynch dies

Local singer and actress Delma Lynch died yesterday.

Lynch entertained Guyanese for decades with various bands, such as Mischievous Guys and acted in two local movies produced by Signal Studio Productions director Bonny Alves.

When contacted yesterday, Alves, who also produced two songs for Lynch, expressed his sadness at her passing. He described her as “outgoing and easy to work with.” Moreover, Alves, who had known Lynch since 1979, said that he was impressed by her ability to sustain a career over the years.

Additionally, local singer Charmaine Blackman said Lynch guided younger performers. She said Lynch, who she met several years ago, opened her home to her and other young singers. She added that Lynch was “always there ready to give advice” and described her as fun and “willing to work.”

Lynch was known for her songs “50/50 Love” and “Start Over,” as well as her role in “The Will To Live” and “Right Choices,” which were both produced by Alves.

Two other songstresses have died in recent years: Czerina Ali and Pamela Maynard.
