Quarterfinal action in the Stag Beer ‘West Side’ 5-a-side football tourney commences today at the Vergenoegen Rice Mill Tarmac with four matchups.
Baring the moniker of the only surviving Georgetown unit, the Jimmy and Rocky Gravesande-led Broad Street outfit will hope to keep their championship aspirations alive when they faceoff with the undefeated New Road Eagles outfit.
In the second matchup of the night, early tournament favourites Tuschen Up-Top-Youths, led by their skillful duo of Devon Millington and John Waldron, will attempt to seal their berth to the semi-final round when they battle Showstoppers.
In what could be described as a grudge matchup, Uitvlugt will faceoff with arch-rivals Stewartville Gunners in the third programmed fixture. The final match of the night will witness Vergenoegen All-Stars opposing De Kindren Village.
The action is set to commence at 20:00hrs. The semi-final round of the event is slated for the same venue on Friday while the final will also be hosted at the same premises on Sunday. The winning team will pocket $200,000.
