Associated Industries Limited (AINLIM) and Neal and Massy Services Limited (NMSL), helped to spruce up the East Bank Special Needs School at Diamond last week.
According to a press release from AINLIM, over 40 employees from both companies embarked on a beautification process at the Special Needs School in preparation for the new school year which started on Monday. During the exercise, the employees painted and repaired the exterior of the building, cleaned the surroundings of the school compound, painted educational messages on the walls and prepared the classrooms.
Renate Jordon, acting head teacher, expressed her gratitude for work done and stated that it would be appreciated by both teachers and students alike. The school, according to Jordan was given the task by the Ministry of Education to enhance the environment by making it “child-friendly” for its special needs pupils and was elated to receive the assistance from AINLIM and NMSL. Currently, she said, the school caters for the needs of 60 students ranging from ages 5-21 who are physically challenged and have learning disabilities, hearing impairments and multiple disabilities and therapy is provided for the pupils by the Georgetown Public Hospital on a weekly basis.
Chief Executive Officer of AINLIM, Lekhnaraine Shivraj, spearheaded the project and said his company was very motivated and the enhancement exercise was done in keeping with the company’s mandate
to offer assistance in the communities in which it operates.
