Botofago and Eagles FC will contest the final of the Upper Demerara Football Association/Net-Rockers u-12 tourney, following semi-final wins over Winners Connection and Net-Rockers respectively on Sunday at the Wisburg Community ground.
Botofago defeated tournament favourites Winners Connection by a 4-2 score line while Eagles thumped Net-Rockers by a 5-2 margin. They will now faceoff in the final at 16:00hrs on Sunday at the same venue whilst the third place playoff will also be held at 14:00hrs.
In the first semi-final encounter, Marmalique Davidson opened the scoring for Winners Connection with a strike in the first minute of play. Botofago would then level the scores in the 20th minute as Jamol Haynes found the back of the net.
Jevon Bobb would then push Botofago into the lead, netting through a 58th minute conversion. It would then become 3-1 as Tevin Thompson etched his name on the scorer’s sheet two minutes later. Winners Connection would then cut the deficit to one as Adrian Cadogan scored in the 78th minute.
However the game would be put to bed six minutes later as Haynes completed his double. In the second matchup, Kirt Johnson broke the score the score line in the fifth minute to give Eagles the early lead. He would then seal his double in the 30th minute to give his side a 2-0 lead.
It would then become 3-0 four minutes later as Johnson completed his first half hat trick. Shane Luckie would then pull one back for Net-Rockers as found the back of the net in the 41st minute. Eagles would restore their three goal advantage through a Kellon Primo strike in the 67th minute.
Net-Rockers would once again cut the deficit to two goals as Anthony Layne scored two minutes later. However the result would be sealed in the 72nd minute through a Kwesi Quinton effort.
