In the July 5th 2014 edition of Stabroek News under the headline `E-Governance project to be completed in two months – Ramotar’, it was stated that Engineering and Construction Inc (ECI) had been blamed for delays in the project. The report went on to say that the Project Head Alexei Ramotar had stated that the project’s coordinators had applied penalties and were able to collect funds from contractors whom he described as errant. Engineering and Construction Inc has since written to Stabroek News stating that it never did any work for the E-Governance project and that the report insinuated that ECI had been penalized in relation to this project but that ECI had not been.
Stabroek News accepts the assurances given by ECI and regrets any imputation that it had been penalized in relation to this project.
