The cash strapped Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) is a calling on entities to flex their corporate muscle to aid the federation in sending an army of bodybuilders to compete at next month’s CAC Championships.
According to a press release from the GABBFF, their main concern at this juncture is the Dutch Caribbean visa they must obtain before the team travels to St Maarten.
At present the CAC 2014 team comprises Mr. Guyana, Kerwin Clarke, Devon Davis, Bruce Whatley, Alisha Fortune and Caerus Cipriani.
The release added that Whatley has already covered his expenses by self-sponsorship. However, the remaining athletes and the Federation are trying to raise as much funds to cover their air fare, accommodations and other incidentals that may arise.
As a means of accruing monies, a fund raising BBQ is planned for September 27 at the Victoria Law Chambers on South Road.
President of the federation, Keavon Bess stated that he, a trainer and Frank Tucker (CAC Judge) will be accompanying the team to St Maarten.
Bess also stated that:”We are almost certain that we will receive the necessary sponsorship.
“Nevertheless, we are fulfilling all the requirements and will call on Corporate Guyana to step up and assist us financially.”
