Two power poles are currently leaning in North Sophia Block R, and one has brought down a meter from a home along the street.
A crew from the Guyana Power and Light visited the area yesterday, assessed the situation and deemed it safe, according to the emergency hotline.
Residents are upset and remain worried about the damage the leaning pole could cause if it falls, citing certain dire hypothetical situations as a consequence. Some are worried that a child could suffer a fatal injury should the poles lean further while some fear that a passing vehicle could feel the brunt of the collapsed wires and others fear fire in their homes.
