The Guyana Baseball League’s after school programme kicks off this afternoon at the Queen’s College playground.
According to a press release, sessions will be held Mondays to Fridays from 3pm until the sun sets.
The programme is open to children five years and older and registration can be done at the ground, the release stated.
Parents can select the practice days for their children, added the release.
Cuban coach Harold Castillo, will run the after school programme with support from local coaches. “The programme seeks to build on the GBL summer camp which was well attended but severely hampered by inclement weather,” stated the release.
“At this point in our development we must share knowledge of academic benefits available to both boys and girls through our baseball and softball programmes,” the release added.
“Numerous tertiary scholarships are available in North America and we strongly urge parents and students to talk to us about future plans where we (GBL) may be of assistance.
“All participants will be invited to join teams and participate in our age bracketed PONY Competition in the final week of November.
As with all GBL activities participants are asked to bring a reusable water bottle.
Parents are encouraged to participate in games with their children,” the release ended.
