The police are still to apprehend the perpetrators in the murders of two women.
Two months after 30-year-old Candy Rawlins was allegedly knifed to death by her husband Vidol Rawlins, the man is yet to be arrested. The Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions has since recommended that Vidol be charged with Candy’s murder, when he is arrested.
Candy, of Crane Housing Scheme, West Coast Demerara, was discovered dead by neighbours at 8:45am on July 18, after her 11-year-old daughter, who was tied to a chair with her mouth taped, managed to escape and raised an alarm.
Meanwhile, the person who allegedly strangled 26-year-old Pradika Persaud and left her body along the East Bank Essequibo Public Road is yet to be identified almost one month after her death.
Persaud was found dead on the night of August 15.
The police had held a suspect but he was later released after the police stated that there was insufficient evidence against him. The man taken into custody after investigations revealed that he was in Persaud’s company on the night she was killed
