The police at Charity have arrested the main suspect in the fatal stabbing of miner Rafael Danns.
Danns, 21, called ‘Singh,’ of Grant Anna Regina Lower Pomeroon River, was stabbed at around 10pm on Monday, after an argument with another man with whom he had been drinking.
Stabroek News was told that at around 9pm on Thursday, the suspect was apprehended at his uncle’s residence at Lillydale, Lower Pomeroon River. The police had reported that investigations into the stabbing had revealed that Danns and the suspect were drinking at a rum shop at Grant Marlborough during which an argument ensued and he was stabbed to his chest.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Charity Hospital.
After the stabbing, several persons were taken to the Charity Police Station to give statements but no arrests were made until Thursday night.
