(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica — At 4:00 pm Saturday the centre of Tropical Storm Edouard was located near latitude 22.5 degrees north and longitude 47.5 degrees west or about 1695 kilometres east northeast of the northern Leeward Islands, the Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has reported.
Edouard is forecast to become a Hurricane late Sunday or early Monday.
Edouard is moving towards the northwest near 20 kilometres per hour. This motion is expected to continue over the next 48 hours, the Met Service said.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 95 kilometres per hour, with higher gusts.
