Some 400 exhibitors are expected to show their produce and services for four days next month when GuyExpo is held at the Sophia Exhibition Site.
According to a GINA press release, Guyana’s 19th Trade and Investment Exposition will take place from October 2 to 5, under the theme ‘Transformation: Partnering for a better Guyana.’
GINA said it was estimated that GuyExpo would see some 110,000 visitors, adding that eight countries would be represented among the exhibitors.
The expo, which started in 1995 as a biennial event transitioned to being held annually from 2004, which was the same year that it was opened to Caricom and other regional exhibitors.
GINA said the expo has remained focused on the development of small and medium sized enterprises, thereby ensuring that local businesses enjoy the level of growth and expansion that is needed for them to remain competitive at the regional and international levels. It named A H and L Kissoon, Toolsie Persaud Limited, Banks DIH, Demerara Distillers Limited, Geddes Grant and Gafoors as businesses that have exhibited at GuyExpo from the inception.
GINA noted that GuyExpo is “undertaken as a partnership among the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, GO-Invest and the private sector; while exhibitors, franchise holders, game operators and entertainers play a major role in the overall success of the event.” Among the exhibitors will be businesses displaying handicraft, furniture, garments, jewellery, and horticulture, pharmaceuticals, tourism and information technology. Food and culture are also central to GuyExpo.
