(Trinidad Express) – A 14-year-old boy yesterday appeared before in the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court charged with buggering a six-year-old boy, who is a friend of the defendant’s family.
Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland read the charge laid against the second form secondary school pupil. His mother, father and stepmother were present for the matter. The court was cleared of members of the public.
The boy was represented by attorney Taradath Singh who asked that bail be granted to his client who he said had no previous or pending matters before the court.
The boy was placed on $55,000 bail with a cash alternative of $5,500.
He was ordered to stay 100 metres away from the victim. The matter was adjourned to October 17.
It is alleged that the six-year-old boy was sexually assaulted last Tuesday while at a day care centre that his younger brother attends.
The centre is managed by one of the defendant’s relatives who is the friend of the alleged victim’s parents.
The boy lives in the same building as the kindergarten.
It is alleged that on Tuesday, the six-year-old boy was taken upstairs of the day care centre and was buggered on a bed. The child was taken to the police station where a report was made.
