It’s avocado (pear) season and all around you can find them. They come in different varieties and shapes.
When ripe, some are purple on the outside, others green and some cream in colour. Regardless of the variety, I love pears, and they are good for you because they contain the good type of fat – monounsaturated. Many studies show that monounsaturated fats improve blood cholesterol levels, which can decrease the risk of heart disease.
Any food that is in season, and plentiful, demands that we find different ways to consume them.
If you’ve had your fill of eating the pears plain and don’t feel like making guacamole where the pear is all mushed together, then try a salad. Using pretty much the same ingredients as a guacamole, the salad is easy to put together and you get to enjoy large pieces of buttery, creamy pears.
There are no exactly quantities for this salad, just eyeball everything.
