Faced with four charges, including possession of narcotics and assaulting a police officer, a young man was yesterday sentenced to prison for three years.
Sydney Davis, 21, was also fined and remanded when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Davis was accused of using threatening language towards Constable Devon McRae on August 15, while he allegedly assaulted McRae, resisted the officer’s arrest and had in his possession 35 grammes of cannabis on September 18. According to the charges, all of the offences occurred at Karasabai.
