The Bartica IMC/NDC has embarked on a massive clean-up and desilting exercise in central Bartica after residents paid their rates.
In a press release, the Bartica Neighbourhood Democratic Council said the IMC sponsored the initiative after residents paid their dues, and it is focused on ensuring that they get value for money.
The exercise encompasses First Avenue to Seventh Avenue and from First Street to Ninth Street. No firm has been contracted to undertake any work, the IMC has employed its own mini-excavator which is being operated by an employee of the NDC. All dams, kokers and outfalls will be cleared and maintained in this exercise, until year-end.
Further, in order to curb and arrest the littering problem in Bartica, two litter wardens have been appointed to the IMC from the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment.
