Dear Editor,
The Riverstown/Annandale Regional Democratic Council is not dealing with illegal activities. On a busy Sunday market day, no action is being taken by the council to prevent vendors occupying both sides of the roadway leading to the market from the old car park area. Vending there is not permissible according to the law, because it constitutes a traffic hazard and there could be an accident.
There is plenty of space within the fenced market compound but the law is not enforced to ensure that vending is done there. More things, including fish and meat, can be purchased outside the market than inside, all because the council is showing a lack of concern.
The affairs of the community are being neglected by the failure to hold local government elections. There is so much evidence of wrongdoing with a snackette on wheels being allowed to sell by the roadside of the present car park area. There is ample space available for this snackette to be located elsewhere, but to leave it where it is creates a dangerous situation.
Yours faithfully,
Ramesh Latchman
